Robert George Jacobs, 89, of Mineral Wells passed away on May 24th, 2024 in a local nursing home. He was born May 20th, 1935, in Minneapolis, MN; the second of 7 children born to Vincent (Win) John Jacobs and the former Lillian Richards Jacobs. He finished his education in Brainerd, MN. Robert was a participant in the Golden Gloves during his high school years. He served in the Minnesota National Guard at Camp Ripley during the Korean War. He served as a police officer for Maple Grove, MN. Robert has lived in Texas since 1975. After he moved to Mineral Wells he worked in the oilfield. His unique knowledge of fixing things took him to various other jobs. He loved to travel, going to Scotland with his church, hunting, and motorcycle riding which took him to Montana, the Dakotas, and Texas. He graduated from Weatherford College Police Academy in the 1990’s. He was a member of the Southside Church of Christ.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, brother Vincent Richard Jacobs, sister Catherine VanNatta and son-in-law Brian McCabe. He is survived by a daughter, Lori Jacobs McCabe of Lexington, KY; by his son, Brian Jacobs of Mineral Wells; sisters, Janell King and husband Roger of Minnesota, Jean McFarlane and husband Bob Thompson of Wisconsin; brothers, Ron Jacobs and significant other Suzy Bennett of Goodyear, Arizona, Bill Jacobs of Minnesota; grandchildren, April Jacobs, Jessica Pinke (Sean), Leslie Broussard (Chris); and great-great children, Brytin Broussard, Daelen Broussard, Jocelyn Pinke; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Mineral Wells Nursing and Rehab for all their help and support in his time of illness and also would like to thank Solaris Hospice for their care and comfort.
There will be a visitation and funeral service at 10 AM Friday May 31st, 2024 at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Chapel. The burial will be at Sturdivant Cemetery.
