Rodney Van York passed peacefully on May 27, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born August 31, 1958 in Stephenville, Texas.
He put up an incredible fight over the last 6–7 years — surviving heart attacks, strokes, and undergoing multiple procedures. These final years were nothing short of a God-sent miracle for those who just weren’t ready to let go. His strength gave us more time, more memories, and more moments to cherish.
Rodney was a devoted husband to his wife, Doris York, of 46 years. He was a loving father and proud papa to many. If you knew him, you’ve probably heard him holler to shut the front door — or had a glass of his family-famous sweet tea.
He was wise, full of stories and memories to share. To know Rodney was to love him, and he will be missed deeply by all who had that privilege.
Rodney is preceded in death by his parents, Ethel May York and Willie “Alton” York; his brothers, Byron, Max, and Rocky York; his sister, Betty Forbes; and his grandson, Ryan Stephens.
He is survived by his wife, Doris York; his sister, Debbie Doty; his children: Robbie Haas, Steven York, Kristy York, and Scott York; as well as many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who will carry his legacy forward.
Services will be held at Baum-Carlock-Baumgardner Funeral Home in Mineral Wells on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at 2:00 PM.
A visitation will take place the evening before, Saturday, May 31, from 6:00–8:00 PM.
