Roy Lee Jones

Roy Lee Jones was born on June 12, 1950, in Plainview, Texas, to his parents Paul and Ila Faye Jones. He grew up alongside his siblings, Joe Paul and Oida Anders, forming bonds that shaped his early life and stayed with him throughout the years.

Roy served proudly in the United States Marine Corps from 1968 to 1970, spending part of his service in Vietnam. His time in the Marines gave him a quiet strength and a deep appreciation for peace, family, and the simple joys of everyday life.

In 1977, Roy met the woman who would become the center of his world – Lewana. From the moment their paths crossed, his heart was hers. One of her favorite memories is from when they were playing games together; Roy went to make his move, and his pinky stuck out just so. She thought he was showing manners – and in a way, he was. It was a small gesture, but it captured the gentle, thoughtful man she fell in love with.

Roy passed away on February 14, 2026, with his family beside him, surrounding him with love and comfort. He left behind a lifetime of laughter, devotion, and unforgettable moments. He had a way of moving through the world with an easy spirit – funny, carefree, and never weighed down by worry. He brought humor into even the simplest days, and his presence made people feel at ease.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Ila Faye Jones; his beloved daughter, Carla Hite; his granddaughter, Erin Hite; his brother, Joe Paul Jones; and brother-in-law, Don Anders.

Surviors include his wife, Lewana; his daughter, Tina Maz and husband Christian; and his brother-in-law, Joe Watts. Roy’s joy only grew as his family expanded. He was blessed with grandchildren – Jason Hite, Oscar Monzon and wife Bell, Katheryn Monzon, Jordon Hite, and Tina Monzon – each one holding a special place in his heart. His great-grandsons, Kade Tincher and Ryatt Monzon, brought him a happiness that lit up his face every time he spoke of them.

Roy will be remembered for his humor, his gentle way of living, and the deep love he carried for his family. His presence was a gift, and his memory will continue to bring warmth and smiles to those who knew him.

As we say goodbye, we take comfort in the words of Psalm 23: “ The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.”

Roy will be lying in state at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home on Wednesday 8:30 a.m. - 8:30 p.m. Graveside services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, February 19, 2026 at Woodland Park Cemetery.
