Sandra Gail Harmon, a resident of Palo Pinto County for over 60 years, passed away on September 20, 2024, at the age of 91.

Memorial Services and a Celebration of life are to be determined, at this time. Interment shall occur at the Woodland Park Cemetery in Mineral Wells, Texas.

Sandra was born August 20, 1933, in Quanah, Texas to parents Andrew Jackson Dunlap and Mary Elizabeth Spears Dunlap. She grew up in Quanah and graduated from Quanah High School. Sandra was involved in cheerleading, agriculture, retail work and was a self-taught seamstress. She attended the Trinity Episcopal Church there.

She married Jesse W. Harmon on June 19, 1950, in Quanah. Together, Jesse and Sandra raised three daughters primarily in Mineral Wells. Sandra followed her husband of 59 years into the grocery business in Quanah, Abilene, Copperas Cove, Granbury, Mineral Wells, Meridian, Whitney and numerous other towns in North Central Texas. She was a co-owner of Southside Grocery in Mineral Wells, Granbury Supermarket, and Lake Whitney Grocery. In addition, she was co- founder of Harmon’s Short Stop, and Harmon’s Pak-a Sak, two convenience store chains in the North Central Texas region. Sandra was actively involved in the daily bookkeeping and accounting of each family-owned business for over 30 years.

Sandra was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed attending church and bible study. She loved singing and music, raising children, sewing, quilting, artwork, gardening, baking, fishing and camping, travel, and family events of all measure. She will be greatly missed by friends, neighbors and family.

Sandra is survived by her daughters Mary and husband Gary Jones of Arlington; Helen Harmon of Lipan; Gail and her husband Neil Hampton of Fort Worth; grandchildren Astra Jones, Jesse Jones, Lee Hampton, and Jeffrey Hampton; great-grandchildren Mary Elizabeth Hampton and Abigail Margaret Hampton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and her beloved husband of 59 years, Jesse Harmon.
