Sylvia Dewey Bandy, a woman of many talents, was called home Tuesday January 6, 2026. She was born in McCamey, Texas on October 18, 1929 to H.A. Dewey and Sallie Dykes Dewey. 

Before meeting her husband of 58 years, Sylvia spent her formative years in southwestern Oklahoma with her mother, grandparents, brother, J.N. Dewey and sister Emma Dewey. After marriage to N.W. Bandy on May 8,1945, she built her home in the community of Santo, Texas where she made many friends. Together, Sylvia and N.W. raised 5 children: Sharron, Regina, “Woody”, Roseanna and Paul. 

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, husband, bothers J.N. Dewey and Buster Miller, sister Emma Dewey Nussbaum, daughter Regina Greenhalgh, and sons “Woody” and Paul Bandy.

She is survived by her daughters Roseanna Bowden and Sharron Taylor (Kenneth); grandchildren Bradford Taylor, Rachel Taylor Lauster (Brian), Kathryn Greenhalgh de la Fuentes (Robert), Ryan Bowden (Kerbi), Neal Bowden (Dawn), Erin Bowden Darnell ( Shawn), Ethan Bandy, Bryce Bandy; daughter-in-law Michele Bandy and Kimberley Bandy; 13 great grandchildren; numerous nephews, cousins and special niece Kathy Nussbaum Jones.

A Celebration of Life will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, January 17, 2026 at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Chapel.
