Troy Melton Pate

March 14, 1928 — October 3, 2021

We say a sorrowful, yet buoyant farewell (as we know where he eternally resides), to an adored husband, attentive father, treasured grandfather, precious great-grandfather and to many, a lifelong friend, and the oldest mount and member of the Palo Pinto Sherriff's Posse, Troy Melton Pate.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, October 7, 2021 at the Palo Pinto County Sherriff’s Posse Building. Burial will follow at Staggs Prairie Cemetery.

Troy was born March 14, 1928 in Eliasville, Texas and passed away on October 3, 2021 in Mineral Wells. He was a retired pipeline inspector from S. W. Gas Company and repaired small engines as a hobby. Troy was an avid horseman, still learning new riding and training techniques up to his untimely illness and death. The Palo Pinto Sherriff’s Posse was the highlight of his life in his latter years.

Troy was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Estelle Pate; beloved wife Mildred; his lovely daughter Judy; only son Curtis; two grandchildren Cody and Beau; and several siblings.

Survivors include his siblings Arliss and David; daughters Alice, Norma, Tina and Retta; along with a plethora of beautiful grandchildren and great grandchildren.

His animated personality reflected his true and genuine zeal for life and his passion of living to it's fullest daily.

He will forever be missed!
