Vicky Lea Walker

September 6, 1955 — October 4, 2022

Vicky Lea Walker, 67, passed away on October 4th 2022. She was born to Alton and Virgie Walker on September 6th, 1955. Vicky graduated from Mineral Wells High School and later settled in Denton, Texas where she attended UNT, graduating in 1985 with a Bachelor's degree in Business Information Systems.

Vicky married Lynn Brooks in 1986, and together they welcomed a son Victor Walker-Brooks. During this marriage, Vicky gained a daughter Amy Saxer (Brooks). Although Vicky and Lynn had later divorced they remained friends.

Vicky had a strong, outstanding work ethic and, after 25 years of service, was able to happily retire earlier this year from UNT Systems.

Vicky was a beloved member of the Open Worship Community of First United Methodist Church of Denton where she was part of many groups, served as an online host for Open Worship and had many friendships. Vicky was also a member of the Open Book Club, Glow by Open, Pub Theology, and many more groups. She loved music passionately and was an encouraging presence and strong supporter of local music. Vicky was also an avid Dallas Cowboys Fan. She was loved by many and will be dearly missed. 

Vicky is survived by her aunt, Mary LaCapria and husband Paul; sister, Sandra Starr and husband Bill Starr; her son, Victor Walker-Brooks; daughter, Amy Saxer; two grandchildren, Zachary and Ashlyn Saxer; and a loving aunt to Richard Starr and Wendy Starr.  She will be dearly missed by many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

A celebration of Life will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at First Baptist Church Mineral Wells. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 pm. Interment will follow at Woodland Park Cemetery.
