Virginia "Sue" Gardner

August 4, 1942 — June 24, 2021

Virginia (Sue) Gardner, 78, of Mineral Wells passed from this life Thursday, June 24th, 2021. Sue was born Aug 4th, 1942, to Leroy (Buddy) and Thyrza Storm in Ponder, Tx.

Sue’s greatest blessings were her two daughters, Denise Elynn born in 1959 and Penny Lee born in 1964.

Sue would later meet the love of her life, Jim Gardner. They were united in marriage on March 12th, 1983, in Las Vegas, NV. One of their favorite past times was driving around looking for geocache and their many trips to enjoy a good burger at one of their favorite restaurants.

Sue attended Midwestern State University where she received her associates degree in Radiology and Health Information Technology. She worked with several hospitals throughout her career. It was nothing uncommon to see her sporting her favorite Betty Boop scrubs. Sue handmade most of her uniforms and had a pair for just about every holiday season. She eventually retired from Faith Community Hospital in 2015. As most of her family knew, this retirement would be short lived, as Sue was a vivacious and energetic lady who always found a way to stay busy. Just a few short weeks later she began working for Mineral Wells ISD as a substitute teacher. She enjoyed it so much that a year later she went full-time as a teaching assistant for the High School. She loved her co-workers and her students dearly, but what gave her the greatest joy was being able to work alongside her precious daughter Penny.

Sue, or Aunt Gin, as many of her nieces and nephews called her, had the most contagious smile. Her infectious laughter would light up any room she entered. She will be greatly missed by so many who loved and adored her.

Sue leaves behind her loving husband Jim, precious daughter Penny, extended children and grandchild, Sandra Moody, Joyce Cheatwood, Chris & Braydon Gossett, a host of very special nieces & nephews, her Mineral Wells ISD family and her beloved fur babies, Amber and Heartlee.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved daughter Denise, brother Wilburn Storm & sisters Reva Nipp, Pearl Gunn, Lavelle McCoy, Celia Glover, Bertha Mares, & Nancy Gipson.

A Celebration of Life for close family and friends will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to the Mineral Wells High School CTE Department in honor of Sue.
