Walter Ray Banks

Walter Ray Banks passed away peacefully into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior on his 73rd birthday, October 14, 2025. He was born October 14, 1952 in Mineral Wells.

Walter married Phyllis Schlabach on September 17, 1983 in Houston, Texas. He was a welder, working at Perry Equipment for 33 years. Walter loved listening and dancing to traditional country music, watching old westerns, and spending time with family. He volunteered at Meals of Wheels of Palo Pinto County and was a member of the Palo Pinto County Cowboy Church. Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Fay (Thompson) Banks; daughter, Nicole Banks; brothers Wesley Banks and Charlie Banks; and his sister, Vera Tillery.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Banks; children, Steven Banks, Amanda Talley and husband Steven, Joshua Banks; 5 grandchildren, Brittani, Jessica, Aaron, Bobbie Jo, and Emma; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Nelda Keeling and Lola Wiederhold; brothers, Wayne Banks, Marshall Banks and wife Nancy; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, church family, and friends.

Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Baum Carlock Bumgardner Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Friday, October 17, 2025 at the Palo Pinto County Cowboy Church. Interment will follow at Ballew Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Terry Keeling, Chuck Banks, Eric Banks, Jody Tillery, Rocky Mahan, and Don Berry.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Palo Pinto County Cowboy Church.
